I am Free: A Womanifesto

by Kendra A.
I am free.
Like the hair on my head, under my arms,
on and between my legs.
In my reflection I detect strength and power.
I see storytelling scars
I see future happiness in my forthcoming crowʼs feet.
I tousle and let locks drape in my face,
I smirk.
I am sexy.
Holding instead of pinching, nothing here is unwanted or unloved.
My body is mine,
I love it.
I prove this with
baths, massage, exercise,
excessive nakedness.
I feed myself well.
I live simply:
reducing, reusing, recycling
trading, giving, sharing
What I own and how I keep it is a reflection of
Who I Am: neat, necessary, nostalgic.
Because I am not a consumer, I am free.
A hundred-year-old treeʼs dedication,
A sunbathing elephantʼs playfulness,
A shooting starʼs meaning to a little child,
I am the truth in all those things.
Speeding down a hill with my bike between my legs
When I want to go, I go.
Sinking down into a mattress with my hand between my legs
When I want to come, I come.
I believe in making time for myself.
I manifest, I envision, I live prosperously.
I share my knowledge, my wealth.
Freedom is mine.
I am not a follower, but a leader
a free-thinker, an autodidact, driven to discover
Withheld Information.
I grow without pesticides.
I am organic.
I am free.
