Yahm’s Womanifesto
being a woman is taking responsibility and not playing the victim
being a woman is making sure we have pepper spray and a karate chop ready
being a woman is saying cunt and have it mean something special
being a woman is loving to have orgasms
being a woman is not caring if people roll their eyes when we talk about women’s issues, feminism, abortion, or anything else
being a woman is loving our cunts
being a woman is not needing someone to tell us we’re unique, but enjoying hearing it anyway
being a woman is finding a sisterhood
being a woman is not calling her a “slut” because she’s wearing a short skirt, gives blowjobs at drunken parties, has fake boobs, because she was raped, because you heard she sleeps around, loves herself, is better looking, is not as good looking, is on the pill, gets an abortion, carries condoms, is a model or actress, or has the ovaries to break away from any standard
being a woman is nurturing and giving to others, while remembering that we deserve that too
being a woman is knowing how to kick a guy in the balls, and not abusing that power
being a woman is knowing that because we have vaginas, we are not safe, but we will not let that stop us
being a woman is not being ashamed of having our periods and talking about it
being a woman is standing up to anyone who calls us “girls” when we really are women
being a woman is doing what you want to do with your life, and not being ashamed of having a career with or without kids, or being a housewife with or without kids
being a woman is not feeling competitive with women we just met, who we don’t even know
being a woman is protecting ourselves from diseases and infections
being a woman is learning how to give ourselves orgasms
being a woman is respecting women who play “feminine” sports like tennis and “masculine” sports like basketball
being a woman is accepting that the beauty industry is run by white men with serious sexuality issues, and it’s not the model’s fault she’s so thin
being a woman is being aware that we are not equal, and that this is still a patriarchal society
be a woman
